Position Highlights:
- Shift Schedule: 3rd shift, 7 on/7 off, Wednesday-Tuesday, 8pm-0630am
- Department: Laboratory
- Location: High Point
Education/Experience/Certifications to Qualify:
- Bachelor's degree and successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) Medical Technologist program, five years' clinical lab experience, or two years' clinical lab experience with Medical Lab Tech (MLT) certification.
- Previous experience as Medical Technologist preferred.
- Medical Technologist (MT) ASCP certification required.
How You’ll Impact Patient Care:
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Performs and provides accurate laboratory test results on human patients.
- Prepares and issues blood components for patient transfusions.
- Assists in the collection and transport of patient samples from the clinics to laboratory sections.
- Handles hazardous materials in accordance with regulations to ensure safe working environment.
- Requisitions and maintain inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment as needed for laboratory operations.
- Supervises, trains, and reviews the work of students and lower-level technicians engaged in clinical laboratory work.
- Operates complex specialized laboratory instruments; instructs other personnel in the use and operations of these instruments.
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses and other ancillary professional staff when discussing procedures.
Work Environment:
- Frequent exposure to infections, contagious diseases, and the risk of bloodborne diseases.
- Exposure to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, waste, odorous chemicals and specimens.
- Subject to electrical, radiant energy and radiation hazards.
- Exposure to a variety of electro-mechanical/power equipment.
- Exposure to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals.
- Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment.
- Subject to long irregular hours.
