Responsible for leading and managing the manufacturing engineering team. This role involves overseeing manufacturing engineering activities that support sustaining, new product development, and continuous improvement projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- · Overall responsibility for the Manufacturing Engineering organization.
- · Leading the activities of manufacturing techs and process engineers to ensure that we are continuously improving and maintaining compliance.
- · Work cross functionally to integrate existing and/or new products into the manufacturing operation and supply chain. Utilize Design Assurance process to ensure process changes do not impact the design requirements.
- Responsible for all tooling evaluation and production integration.
- Demonstrate a proficiency in project management, including obtaining up-front agreement on project definitions and priorities, and ensuring that resources, capabilities and processes are in place.
- Establish written team and individual goals and insure they are aligned with operational goals.
- Ensure metrics for engineering performance are met and plans are in place to provide continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Quality, Production, and E & D departments to improve the process quality, reduce cycle time and determine cost effectiveness through design for manufacturability team project meetings.
- Develop and monitor systems to ensure all Manufacturing Engineering SOP’s, test methods, machine programs files and verification / validation documents are current and accurate.
- Work closely with manufacturing operations to address CAPAs, improve productivity and upgrade operator skills.
- Responsible for developing and executing the Manufacturing Engineering budgets.
- Responsible for the development and execution of cost reduction projects.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required or equivalent experience; Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years technical experience, preferably in the orthopedic, medical device or related field.
- A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience managing engineers or other technical personnel is required.
- Project management experience with demonstrated ability to align multi-functional teams is required.
- Experience with developing manufacturing processes and process improvement is required.
