Role Description The Mortgage Loan Processor is a full-time hybrid role based in Freehold, NJ, with flexibility for some work-from-home days. This role focuses on managing mortgage files from application through underwriting and closing, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with company, investor, and regulatory guidelines. Day-to-day responsibilities include collecting and reviewing borrower documentation, verifying income, assets, and credit, and preparing files for underwriting decision. The Mortgage Loan Processor will communicate frequently with loan officers, underwriters, title companies, and borrowers to obtain conditions, resolve issues, and maintain clear expectations on timelines. The role also involves updating loan status in internal systems, maintaining organized electronic files, and proactively identifying potential delays or documentation gaps to keep loans on track for timely closing.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of the mortgage industry and current mortgage lending practices.
- Hands-on experience in loan processing and preparing complete files for underwriting review.
- Familiarity with underwriting guidelines, conditions, and documentation requirements for various loan products.
- Experience working with residential mortgage loans, including conventional, FHA, VA, or other common loan types.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple loan files simultaneously.
- Proficiency with mortgage LOS software and general computer applications (e.g., MS Office, document management tools).
- Clear, professional communication skills for interacting with borrowers, loan officers, and third-party partners.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment (on-site in Freehold, NJ and remote).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience in a mortgage processing or related role within a lending environment strongly preferred.
