What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Operator position at ADVICS?
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Loads, unloads, and moves production and non-production materials by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Compares identifying information, and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, and records shortages or overages. Routes items to storage, work area, or appropriate individual.
Moves, conveys, or hoist shipments from receiving area to storage or work areas using material handling equipment.
Loads and unloads materials to and from vehicles, by hand or using material handling equipment.
Secures boxes to pallets, and closes box tops using pneumatic staplers, tape, and or stretch wrap machine.
Stocks machine lines and assembly lines with components and parts necessary for production.
Maintains accuracy of production component inventory. Performs 5S and cleanup activities at designated times. Actively participates in continuous improvement activities.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience operating a stand-up industrial truck is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to follow and carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have powered industrial truck license. Electric stand-up experience preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Must have basic PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Windows operation.
Must be able to function in a team environment by working with, and cooperating with others.
Good basic math skills, organization skills, and ability to clearly communicate in both written and oral forms with others is necessary.
Understanding of FIFO (first in/first out) methods.
Ability to use a computerized inventory control system, BPCS knowledge a plus.

Vision abilities required to operate forklifts and computers used to perform this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
