Position Summary

The Production Control Specialist: Service is responsible for ensuring efficient material flow, accurate scheduling, and timely delivery of automotive brake service parts. This role serves as a key liaison between customers, internal departments, and production teams to maintain optimal inventory levels, support manufacturing operations, and meet customer demand.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Communication & Service Parts Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers purchasing service and aftermarket brake components.
  • Receive, review, and confirm customer orders, forecasts, and schedule changes.
  • Provide customers with order status updates, delivery confirmations, lead time information, and issue resolution.
  • Maintain accurate customer data and requirements in the ERP/MRP system.

Production Scheduling & Forecast Management

  • Convert customer schedules and forecasts into actionable internal production plans.
  • Analyze demand trends, forecast changes, and capacity constraints to ensure production readiness.
  • Monitor daily production output and adjust schedules as needed to meet delivery requirements.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve scheduling conflicts.

Internal Material & Kanban Management

  • Issue and maintain internal kanban cards or digital kanban signals for all assigned product lines.
  • Monitor inventory levels, WIP, and kanban loops to ensure proper material flow.
  • Initiate replenishment orders and adjust kanban quantities based on consumption and demand changes.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to manage incoming materials and outgoing shipments.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate data in ERP/ MRP systems for schedules, inventory, and demand forecasts.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production status, inventory levels, shortages, and delivery performance.
  • Track KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and schedule adherence.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to optimize scheduling, reduce inventory, and improve material flow.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams focused on lean manufacturing, kanban optimization, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support implementation of new systems, tools, or procedures related to production control.

Qualifications

Required: EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in supply chain, Business, Operations, or related field.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for customer interaction and cross-functional coordination.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other productivity tools.

Preferred

  • Experience in production control, scheduling, or materials management.
  • Strong understanding of ERP/ MRP systems and kanban processes.
  • Experience in automotive braking systems or other precision manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving tools.
  • Ability to utilize Access database

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • The employee must infrequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision for the purpose of floor inventory control, and close vision due to a high amount of PC work.
  • Office environment with frequent interaction on the production floor.
  • The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is also regularly required to enter the production area. The noise level there varies from moderate to loud.
  • Occasional need for overtime or flexible hours to support customer demands or production requirements.
