POSITION SUMMARY: Facilitate in the manufacture of quality brake pads.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Loading Side:
- Operation
- Operate buffing machine. Machine should be in operation the entire shift, operate the manual buffer when necessary.
- Keep supply of pallets and boxes throughout the shift.
- Bring pads from staging racks and load the finishing machine. Keep the machine loaded throughout the shift.
- Change the stamp head and stamp tooling during changeovers.
- Set wire brush during changeovers.
- Set the stamp offset during changeovers.
- Check for magnet tape on all load magnets.
- Fill-in for unload operator during breaks and lunch.
- Quality checks/Paperwork
- Quality checks for buffing (Go - No Go gauges.)
- Buffing lot cards.
- Record production and scrap for buffing (time sheet).
- Do all quality check that are required of unload side operator when filling in on breaks & lunch.
- Cleaning
- Paint booth cleaning (major cleaning) 1 time per shift
- Clean the loading side of the finishing line (stamp, wire brush, loading conveyor, etc.)
1 time per shift
- Clean buffing machines 1 time per shift.
- General cleanup (floors, machines, etc.)
Unload side:
- Operation
- Clear all finishing line machine stops (Reset machine when necessary).
- Unload exit conveyor - do visual check - fill tote according to style being run
- Change grinder tooling and do grinder set-up.
- Responsible for keeping the finishing line running.
- Quality Checks / Paperwork
- Do visual check on all pads coming off the line.
- Do visual check on all pads for paint and grinding quality.
- Complete the Finishing Process First Inspection Report.
- Report finishing line production and scrap for the shift (Time sheet).
- Finishing lot cards.
- Set-up the weigh-check scale and counter during each change over.
- Do finishing line check-sheets, including paint booth cleaning and paint charge checks.
- Cleaning
- Paint booth cleaning - major cleaning - 1 time per shift.
- Clean grinder (shavings) - 1 time per shift.
- Paint booth scrape-downs when required - 1 per hour
- General clean-up - 1 time per shift (Floor, table, etc.)
Scorcher:
- Operator scorcher #1 and/or Scorcher #2 following specifications and safety guidelines.
- Transport product to and from scorch building as directed.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Follow all safety guidelines with special emphasis on correct lifting procedures
- Strict adherence to 5S concept
- Notify supervisor, quality personnel, and/or lead operator of quality problems

- Complete all paperwork to report production
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 1 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions (e.g., working around moving machines in production facilities) and protective clothing or gear such as safety glasses, gloves and safety shoes is required.
