Director of Technical Accounting – Global Technology Company – Long Island
A high-growth fintech company is searching for a Director of Technical Accounting to support all aspects of their accounting procedures, drafting new accounting policies, with an emphasis on the technical aspects of revenue recognition and capitalized software.
This newly created role will play an integral part in the continued development of their accounting function, including supporting the upcoming implementation of an ERP system and the roll-out of the associated revenue module. The role will report to the VP of Accounting and oversee a team of 3 on both the revenue and corporate accounting teams, and will also partner with FP&A, revenue operations, and other areas of the business.
The team works 5 days on-site on Long Island.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation and maintenance for appropriate policies and procedures to enable accurate and timely financial reporting, which is compliant with US GAAP and other regulatory requirements
- Monitor key internal controls to ensure compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures
- Creating consolidated financial statements, footnotes, Management's Discussion and Analysis, and fulfilling GAAP compliance assessments.
- Assist the VP of Accounting with day-to-day activities related to certain complex corporate accounting matters on ASC 606 and ASC 350
- Drive the preparation of technical accounting memos and position papers, ensuring clear articulation of issues, authoritative guidance cited, and well-supported conclusions.
- Coordinate with external auditors to promote an efficient, productive audit of the company’s internal controls and financial records
- Provide oversight for the month-end and quarter-end revenue close processes, ensuring accuracy of revenue results, completeness of contract reviews, and appropriateness of key ASC 606 judgments and estimates.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of related experience with a foundation in public accounting
- Excellent knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting principles, ASC606 and ASC350
- Ability to research, propose and document company positions on complex accounting issues
- Active CPA license
Salary: $175,000-$200,000 Bonus
