What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barista Shift Leader position at Adventure Coffee Company?
As a Barista/Shift Lead, you will open and/or close the shop, be in charge of the shift duties and oversee Baristas and opening/closing duties and side work, greet customers, answer their questions, take orders accept payments, and prepare drinks. You will also maintain a clean and healthy work environment, and continuously expand your knowledge of beverage quality controls, preparation, and presentation.
Duties and Tasks
Operations
- Adhere to all company policies and protocols, both behind the bar and at the front of house, including those for cash handling and safety, while maintaining a clean and organized work space so fellow team members can locate resources and products quickly
- Ensure that the company’s brand is properly reflected by keeping a well maintained, clean, well-organized and stocked coffeebar
- Uphold the company’s standards regarding merchandising, inventory and rotation of store products
- Offer relevant, thoughtful ideas and suggestions for improving operations
- Ensure adherence to the company’s dress code, as well as all health and safety requirements
- Maintain a clean environment involving the cleaning of the back of house, bar areas, cafes, and patios contributing to a healthy environment for customers and employees
- Contribute to store profitability by following cash handling and cash register policies and procedures
- Attend all individual and company scheduled training sessions and staff meetings to constantly advance education on coffee, tea, merchandise, and espresso bar skills
- Open and/or Close the shop
- Perform and oversee all opening and/or closing duties
Customer Service & Drink Quality
- Have a passion for our coffee and share knowledge with customers
- Committed to providing consistent quality beverages
- Confidently and accurately communicate product information to customers by responding to questions, orders, and concerns
- Preparing beverages, brewing coffee, and serving to customers
- Maintain product knowledge regarding all pastries and food items and stay up to date on seasonal menu changes
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- MUST be available for 5 days a week (minimum of 25 hours a week)
- MUST be available to open (630am) and/or close (530pm) daily
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Experience in beverage preparation or customer service preferred
- Coffee experience preferred
- Training and willingness to learn about coffee and beverages
- Hospitable and inclusive with all customers and co-workers
- Demonstrating a passion for coffee and tea
- The hours can be part-time/full time based on availability and can increase and decrease due to the needs of the business
- Availability to work around peak hours, early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- A polite, engaging personality

- Can create productive relationships with co-workers, collaborating and working as a team
Pay: $17.00 per hour
