The Role

At Adventure Air, our Flight Instructors play a vital role in shaping the next generation of pilots. As Certified Flight Instructors, they uphold the highest standards of training, professionalism, and safety while creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment. Based at David Jay Perry Airport, our instructors guide students through various training programs, emphasizing safety, sound decision-making, and risk management at every stage.

More than just teachers, our Flight Instructors serve as mentors, helping students progress through their training with confidence. They also manage student training portfolios, ensuring each pilot receives the guidance and resources needed for success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and coordinate training to keep students on track.
  • Provide high-quality flight and ground instruction, emphasizing safety and risk management.
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with FAA and school standards.
  • Support students through all stages of training, preparing them for checkrides with effective coaching and feedback.
  • Participate in instructor standardization training and assist with solo monitoring when needed.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, helping students master essential aviation concepts.
  • Engage in professional development, including assisting with Dispatch and Line Crew operations.

Qualifications

  • Required to hold a Certified Flight Instructor Certificate.
  • CFII Preferred.
  • 290 Hours Total Time in fixed-wing aircraft.
  • 150 Hours PIC time preferred.
  • Able to evaluate subjects related to Single-Engine and Instrument ratings (if applicable).
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills required.

The Hiring Process

At Adventure Air, we follow a three-stage interview process to ensure the right fit for both our team and prospective instructors.

  • Stage 1: An in person or video call interview to determine your fit with company culture.
  • Stage 2 & 3: Typically conducted on the same day (weather permitting), this phase includes a teaching demonstration followed by a flight evaluation.

If selected, congratulations! Before officially instructing, you’ll complete a 10-hour transition training period with an instructor, which serves as both insurance-required training and a probationary period. Once completed, you’re ready to go!

Compensation

Adventure Air offers a competitive salary of $27.50 per hour, ensuring our Flight Instructors are rewarded for their expertise and dedication. We value the hard work and commitment of our team, providing not only excellent pay but also a supportive and flexible work environment that prioritizes both instructor success and student achievement.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to maintain at least a third class medical, lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
