Job Summary:
Oversees pharmaceutical purchasing activities, contract compliance, monitoring drug usage, project coordination, pharmacy services policy and procedures maintenance, and daily supervision of the pharmacy technicians and non-licensed support staff. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Bachelor’s Degree: Preferred
- Five years' inpatient pharmacy experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Pharmaceutical Technician Board certification: Preferred
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
- CPhT OR CPHT-NHA: Required
Essential Functions:
- Supervises technicians and clerks in the Pharmacy. Performs evaluations, takes part in hire and termination process, oversees job duties, workflow and work schedules. Supports the development and implements policies and procedures relating to pharmacy operations and professional practice standards and implements department initiatives consistent with program goals and objectives.
- Coordinates inventory of pharmaceuticals and supplies, including ordering of appropriate quantities. Assists in the reconciliation of statements/invoices. Monitors and evaluates existing service levels, systems, procedures and practices and recommends appropriate changes or additions as required consistent with department goals and objectives.
- Works closely with wholesaler to maintain website, staff training, invoice balancing, and documentation. Supervises record keeping and bookkeeping in accordance with policies of the hospital for charges to patients, and control over requisitioning and dispensing of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Participates in State, Federal or other agencies compliance for pharmaceutical services and the development, collection, and organization of continuous quality improvement activities within the department.
- Assists the Manager or Director of Pharmacy in the supervision of department productivity and expenses.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
