Job Summary:
Performs radiographic exams limited to Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA). Follows strict guidelines about the usage of radiographic equipment. Coordinates modality workflow by matching up requisition, accompanying paperwork and notifying technologist. Maintains responsibility for accurately and responsively performing routine assigned clinical tasks of limited complexity. Works under the supervision of more experienced staff.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Two years' clerical experience in a medical or dental office setting: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current California Limited Permit-Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) license: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
Essential Functions:
- Performs radiographic exams limited to Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA). Prepares patients for exams and explains procedures to them. Follows strict guidelines about the usage of radiographic equipment. Coordinates modality workflow by matching up requisition, accompanying paperwork and notifying technologist. Consistently prepares and maintains imaging dressing rooms for cleanliness and neatness.
- Reviews and proofreads outpatient schedules and orders for the Technologists. Contacts providers for corrected or amended orders via phone, fax or email.
- Utilizes the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) for exam record images & storage. Uses the Meditech and PACS to serve the clinical needs of the patient and fiscal needs of the Department. Performs billing processes correctly and accurately. Accurately performs medical record activities for registration and procedure scheduling, and database and film library maintenance.
- Effectively and courteously assists patients both in person and by telephone. Assists Radiologist (and referring and visiting physicians) with locating case files. Prioritizes multiple activities to maintain efficient workflow.
- Maintains equipment, work area, and adequate supplies. Copies films, burns exams to CDs, and pulls up reports when necessary.
