- Provides spiritual care for patients, families, and team members, addressing acute crises, end-of-life care, difficult diagnoses, and other significant events.
- Responds to inpatient referrals within 24 hours and outpatient referrals within 48 hours, including evening and weekend chaplaincy care.
- Coordinates appropriate spiritual support for patient care and collaborates with Mission and Ministry Campus Liaisons.
- Leads Clinical Team Spiritual Formation and participates in Leadership Spiritual Formation.
- Participates in “Mission-Fit” hiring assessments for campus leaders and New-Employee Orientation.
- Works with HR to evaluate and facilitate potential Staff and PRN Chaplains.
- Provides spiritual support for campus/entity leadership and team members.
- Manages volunteer training, including initial and continuing education, and oversees service participation.
- Collaborates with Certified Educators to provide feedback on students' progressive competence and clinical curriculum experiences.
- Leads educational events, workshops, and conferences with community clergy and local congregations.
- Participates in Ethics Consults and Family meetings, addressing whole person care concerns for patients and team members.
- Conducts regular oversight of performance of staff chaplains, PRN/TN Chaplains, and other Spiritual Care staff, documenting progressive discipline corrective plans consistently.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Personal commitment to God. [Required]

- Ability to effectively relate and consistently provide spiritual care to patients, families, and staff of diverse religious, educational, and cultural backgrounds. [Required]
- Ability demonstrate leadership qualities and to earn respect of nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. [Required]
- Displays a high skill level completing tasks and communicating using Microsoft Office Suite. [Required]
Education:
- Master's [Required]
Field of Study:
- Master's of Divinity degree or other graduate theological degree (72-hour minimum) such as: pastoral care, spiritual care, etc. (as required for APC Board Certification qualification)
- Graduate level education in healthcare administration or other related business discipline [Preferred]
Work Experience:
- 3 years of clinical chaplaincy experience in healthcare [Required]
- Intentional leadership development pursued [Preferred]
Additional Information:
- Minimum of 4 units of ACPE, Inc. accredited CPE (Level 1 and Level 2 engaged) [Required]
Licenses and Certifications:
- Ordained Minister (ORDM) [Required] OR Commissioned Minister Credential (SDA) [Required]
- Ecclesiastical Endorsement Certificate (CHAPLAIN) [Required]
- Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) [Preferred]
