The value you’ll bring to the team:
The Patient Advocate functions as an advisor, consultant, and advocate for patients, their families, and the hospital. The primary duty of the Patient Advocate is to take an intermediary role and help ensure that the patient’s experience and the care provided by physicians and staff is satisfactory and that any outstanding issues are resolved in a timely manner. The Patient Advocate works across departmental lines and interacts with staff at all levels within the organization to serve as a central resource for all patients, family members and visitors particularly with regards to concerns, complaints and grievances.
- The Patient Advocate initiates visits with patients to assess their perception of hospital services during the patient’s stay and discusses any issues they may have.
- The Patient Advocate works with nursing to rectify the issue(s) presented in real time.
- Complaints and grievances received from patients or family members after discharge (i.e. in writing, via email, internet, phone, or in person) are directed to the Patient Advocate for initial assessment and processing.
- The Patient Advocate serves on committees as needed, related to Patient Rights, Customer Service, and Patient Satisfaction.
- The Patient Advocate may also be involved in training patients and/or staff on patient communication technologies, language services, patient rights and customer service initiatives.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- One year of experience in a healthcare environment and/or two years of experience in customer service or related experience
- High School Diploma and/or GED

Salary : $34,700 - $43,900
