- Observes patients to detect behavior patterns and report observations and concerns to the registered nurse or behavioral health clinician.
- Implements patient-centered care and trauma-informed care.
- Creates and supports a therapeutic environment for safe treatment implementation.
- Performs observation rounds on assigned patients, documenting in real time, in order to detect behavior patterns.
- Utilizes clear and positive communication skills to assess and provide therapeutic intervention for patients' and families' needs and concerns.
- Records measures of patients' general physical condition, such as vital signs and blood glucose levels, as ordered.
- Orients patients and families to the unit. Identifies early signs of escalation in patients and effectively de-escalates.
- Intervenes to restrain violent or potentially violent or suicidal patients as required, and monitors patients in restraints according to policy guidelines.
- Performs environmental rounds per policy and report unsafe conditions.
- Manages or assists with daily group activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Ability to communicate appropriately, professionally, and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals [Required]
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry [Required]
- Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and local, state, and national laws [Required]
- Proficiency in computer systems to enter and track patient records [Required]
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
- Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English [Required]
Education:
- High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
