The role you'll contribute:
The Surgical Tech works under the supervision of the surgeon and RN. Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed. Assists in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms.
The value you'll bring to the team:
- Uses physician preference card to identify supplies and equipment needed for scheduled surgical or emergency procedures and updates preference cards with necessary changes.
- Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures.
- Prepares and labels solutions and medications used, reporting amounts for charting.
- Prepares back table and mayo stand, anticipating the needs of the surgeon using the surgeons preference card.
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
Required qualifications:
- High School Grad or Equiv Required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) from American Heart Association Required
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST) - License Required
- Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another clinical Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech. Required
- Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Required
