Job Description:

• Receives soiled and contaminated instruments or equipment from surgery, anesthesia, and nursing units.
• Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment appropriately. Inspects all instruments and equipment for damages, malfunction, or unacceptable condition.
• Prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization by verifying correct items and quantities.
• Assures proper sterilization procedures are performed and the effectiveness of the sterilizing process.
• Maintains required records on sterilization and tracks equipment and instruments issued to nursing units.
