Job Description:

• Prepares sterile dressings and clean instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient. Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Interpersonal Skills [Required]
• Completion of validation skills [Required]
• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up [Required]
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques [Required]
• Laser skills/training [Required]
• Able to precept and act as resource person and preceptor in multiple surgical specialties [Preferred]
• Minimum of one year scrub experience in a multi-disciplinary surgical service [Required]
• Demonstrated specialization in one or more surgical areas as determined by Director [Required]
• Proficient in the English language [Required]
• Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia, surgical site infection prevention, emergency code cart, high and low level disinfection, clinical alarms, medication management, isolation precautions, surgical care of patients age (0-100 ), fire safety, AIDET, and SBAR [Required]

Education:

• Associate [Preferred]
• High School Grad or Equivalent [Required]
• Technical/Vocational School [Required]

Work Experience:

• 2 years of experience as certified surgical tech
• Proficient in a minimum of 3 major surgical specialties [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR
• Technician in Surgery - Certified (NTSC) [Required]
