Job Title: TECH ASSISTANT
Pay: $35 Per Hour
Shift: Day Shift – 8 am to 5: 00 pm
Location: Salinas, CA, 93901

Special Notes:
The manager is looking for a scheduler.
Two (2) to four (4) years of recent scheduling experience in PT/CT, Angio, CT, US, MRI, and X-ray is required.
Job Duties:
1. Under direct supervision, uses the PACS system to transmit and print/burn CDs of patient imaging studies, transports and assists patients, assists in lifting and moving patients, filing x-ray jackets.
2. Performs routine clerical duties such as preparing charts for Interventional procedures, obtaining pertinent information including patient demographics and financial data, and entering it into the computer, and provides necessary patient preparation for procedures.
3. Works with Radiologists and Nurses to schedule interventional cases.
4. Prepares and processes initial paperwork and identification bands.
5. Schedules exams for multiple modalities (PT/CT, CT, MRI, NM, US, Angio, X-ray, Mammo).
6. Phone voice must be friendly and professional.
7. Obtains authorizations, provides necessary billing codes for the physician's office, and assesses medical necessity for Medicare patients.
8. Obtains required signatures and collects a copy of insurance, Medicare, and medical cards.
9. Follows regulations for Medicare Secondary Payer and the three-day rule.
10. Should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit.
11. Performs any combination of the following duties depending on the area of assignment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
1. Schedules exams with the MD office. a. Obtains authorization and DI order from the MD’s office. b. Provides necessary CPT codes to the MD’s office. c. Obtains ICD-9 codes for Medicare patients to assess for medical necessity from the MD’s office.
2. Interviews and Pre-registers patients for PET/CT, MRI, US & CT to obtain accurate demographic information and enters it in the computer system to initiate quality patient care. Provides patients with necessary patient preparation for procedures. Remains in contact with diabetic patients who are having PET/CT daily for Glucose reading until the day of the appointment.
3. Registers, interviews, and screens patients into the ITS and Meditech systems.
4. Coordinates child/adult sedation under anesthesiology with the surgery scheduling department, along with notifying the DI and OR nurses.
5. Reviews DI orders for the following day, verifies the order coincides with the exam scheduled.
6. Enters x-ray, CT, US, MRI & PET/CT exams into the computer system, prepare charts for Interventional procedures.
7. Prepares all necessary paperwork, consents, questionnaires, and identification bands for the following day.
8. Prepares CT, US, PET/CT & MRI schedules for the technologist and radiologist
9. Greets, registers, and obtains necessary insurance and identification cards from the patient.
10. Determines the patient’s primary and secondary payor and enters it into the computer.
11. Initiates and explains all required documents, consents, and registration demographics with the patient and obtains required signatures.
12. May transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or walking
13. May assist patients by lifting and moving them off and on the X-ray table
14. Answers all telephone calls by stating, “Diagnostic Imaging, how may I direct your call?” promptly and courteously to ensure smooth and accurate communication.
15. Performs miscellaneous duties such as filing of X-ray jackets, printing/burning CDs for patient imaging studies.
16. Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the population served.
17. Assists physicians with viewing images on the PACS system.

19. Assists technologists with patient flow.
20. Scans in signed MD orders.
21. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards.
Experience: two (2) to four (4) years of recent scheduling experience in PT/CT, Angio, CT, US, MRI, and x-ray is required. Medical terminology is strongly preferred. Recent (6-12 months) Epic Experience.
Required Education: Work requires knowledge generally acquired through a high school education or GED.
