SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Construction Project Manager, the General Carpenter performs skilled carpentry and related tasks in support of new construction and major renovation projects. This position focuses on high-quality structural and finish carpentry work, including concrete foundation work, framing, and exterior construction to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the required standards.
Special Note: Persons hired in this classification may be required to work across multiple properties and construction sites.
All activities must support Advantix’s strategic goals and objectives and produce results that accomplish the goals of the overall organization.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Primary areas of responsibility and tasks that may typically be expected include but are not limited to:
- Performs foundation layout.
- Installs rebar and concrete formwork.
- Constructs and installs structural framing, floors, walls, and roofs.
- Installs and/or repairs doors, windows, locks, and hardware.
- Installs and/or repairs cabinets, drawers, counters, and vanities.
- Installs and/or repairs drywall, including mudding, sanding, and texturing.
- Installs and/or repairs roofing and gutters.
- Pour and finishes concrete.
- Paints interior and exterior surfaces as required.
- Use construction tools and equipment proficiently and safely to complete assigned tasks.
- Completes all work in a timely, efficient, and high-quality manner.
- Communicates regularly with the Construction Project Manager regarding work progress, material needs, and any issues that arise.
- Ensures safe work practices and proper operation of all tools and equipment at all times.
- Maintains a clean and organized work site.
SECONDARY DUTIES (Apartment/Property Management Support)
- Performs preventative maintenance and apartment unit turns as assigned.
- Ensures unit turn supplies are stocked and orders materials as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Construction Project Manager.

Qualifications:EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR CERTIFICATION
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Four (4) years of related construction or carpentry experience, with strong emphasis on new construction.
- Journeyman qualifications in carpentry or a related trade preferred.
- Valid Indiana Driver’s License required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequent movement on sites, including climbing ladders, working on rooftops, in confined spaces, and uneven terrain. Ability to lift and carry items weighing more than 50 pounds. Work involves exposure to various weather conditions, heights, loud noise, and typical construction site hazards.
