Role Summary
The Designer II develops detailed 3D models and engineering drawings for both large AMP program-level projects and smaller engineering-intensive assignments. This role collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and other internal stakeholders to ensure designs meet technical requirements, project schedules, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Development
- Create engineering and fabrication drawings/models for large AMP program work and smaller engineering-heavy projects.
- Develop 3D models, fabrication/assembly drawings, installation drawings, and bills of materials to project requirements.
- Interpret and apply project inputs, ensuring design accuracy and adherence to company standards.
- Assist in conceptual modeling during early project stages in coordination with engineering leads.
Quality Assurance and Coordination
- Review drawings/models for accuracy, compliance with specifications, building/safety codes, and constructability.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings with internal stakeholders to address design clashes and resolve conflicts.
- Ensure deliverables are prepared and submitted in accordance with project schedules and quality standards.
Project Support
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other internal team members to clarify requirements and share updates.
- Track progress on assigned tasks, estimate completion percentages, and flag potential risks to schedules.
- Document and manage open design items to support project closeout.
Teamwork and Development
- Support process improvements and contribute to maintaining drawing/modeling standards.
- Share expertise with junior designers through guidance and informal mentoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance workloads and deliver on multiple priorities.

Qualifications
- Associate degree or certification in CAD/Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field required; equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant design experience in engineering, construction, or manufacturing environments.
- Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) with the ability to create detailed models and drawings to established standards.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with BIM coordination tools such as Navisworks and Revit.
- Familiarity with modular construction or steel detailing.
- Background in engineering-heavy projects or program-level design support.
- Understanding of building codes, industry standards, and fabrication processes.
Physical demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively through speaking and listening.
