Position Summary
This company is seeking an experienced Mechatronics Engineer to support the development of custom and next-generation actuator systems. This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering role focused on electro-mechanical product development from concept through production.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in industrial product design and development, with expertise in SolidWorks, GD&T, and electro-mechanical system integration. This role requires an engineer who can contribute across mechanical design, motor and sensor integration, testing, manufacturing support, and cross-functional collaboration. This is a challenging role best suited for an engineer with 4–8 years of relevant experience who thrives in a fast-paced product development environment.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
- Design and develop complex electro-mechanical systems and actuator assemblies from concept through production release
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
- Apply GD&T principles to mechanical designs and technical documentation
- Design and integrate:
- Actuators
- Motors
- Gear systems
- Bearings
- Sensors
- Connectors
- Servo drives and controllers
- Support custom and next-generation actuator development initiatives
Testing & Validation
- Perform component and system-level analysis, troubleshooting, and performance testing
- Develop and execute verification and validation test procedures
- Utilize controllers, amplifiers, and electrical test equipment to evaluate actuator performance
- Generate technical reports, test documentation, and engineering recommendations
Manufacturing & Documentation
- Create and maintain:
- Manufacturing drawings
- Customer drawings
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Engineering documentation within ERP systems
- Support design for manufacturability, inspection, reliability, and cost optimization
- Collaborate with manufacturing and purchasing teams to support sourcing and production activities
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Engineering teams
- Manufacturing
- Sales
- Customers
- Vendors
- Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement efforts
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers when needed
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience
- 4–8 years of engineering experience in industrial product design and development
- Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems in a manufacturing environment
- Experience developing complex mechanical or mechatronic assemblies
Required Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks (required)
- Strong understanding and application of GD&T (required)
- Experience with electro-mechanical system integration
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and inspection methods
- Experience with engineering documentation and revision control
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
Communication & Execution
- Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments
