Position Summary
The CNC Application Engineer will lead high-precision CNC machining programming and setup operations, with a focus on maximizing machine performance, process efficiency, and product quality. This role involves advanced CNC programming, tooling and fixture setup, and problem-solving for complex machining tasks. Collaboration with design teams and manufacturing suppliers is essential to drive process improvements, reduce cycle times, and support cost-effective production.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Create and modify CNC programs using CAM software; interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
- Select, install, and align tooling, fixtures, and work-holding devices for efficient setups.
- Perform machine offsets, tool length adjustments, and part probing to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Set up 3-axis and 4-axis milling machines for prototypes and small production runs.
- Analyze and optimize cycle times, tool paths, and machine parameters for quality and efficiency.
- Recommend tooling upgrades, fixture improvements, and programming changes to reduce scrap and downtime.
- Serve as a technical liaison between design engineering and manufacturing suppliers to support design for manufacturability.
- Lead cost-reduction initiatives by evaluating and improving machining processes.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; postsecondary education preferred
- Ability to work across multiple machines as needed
- Knowledge of mold and casting process theory
- Familiarity with casting operations preferred
- Proficiency in GD&T (preferred)
