Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during operative procedures by preparing the sterile field, passing instruments, and managing surgical supplies with precision and aseptic technique.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of surgical anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
- Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized, functioning correctly, and ready for use in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Support patient care before, during, and after surgery by monitoring vital signs, assessing patient status, and assisting with discharge planning when appropriate.
- Document detailed medical records including operative reports, patient data, and procedural notes within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems accurately and efficiently.
- Uphold strict infection control standards through proper aseptic techniques and adherence to hospital policies to prevent cross-contamination or infection spread.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by analyzing clinical data related to patient outcomes and procedural efficiency.
Skills
- Skilled in suturing techniques and handling various surgical instruments with precision.
- Ability to interpret vital signs accurately and respond swiftly during emergencies or critical situations.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques necessary for maintaining a sterile environment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications like Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are advantageous.
Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
