Director, Financial Reporting

 

Advantage Solutions is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting to lead the company’s external financial reporting and technical accounting functions. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, this role owns the preparation and integrity of consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and serves as a key leader within the controllership organization of a global public company. The Director leads a team and builds scalable, audit-ready reporting processes to support an active M&A environment while partnering closely with executive leadership and supporting key governance and reporting forums.

Responsibilities

The Company is one of North America’s leading sales and marketing agencies specializing in outsourced sales, merchandising, category management, and marketing services to manufacturers, suppliers, and producers of food products and consumer packaged goods. The Company services a variety of trade channels including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics, and home centers. We bridge the gap between manufacturers and retailers, providing consumers access to the best products available in the marketplace today.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards

  • Oversee external financial reporting including financial statements, disclosures, and management reporting materials

  • Direct accounting for business combinations and goodwill assessments in alignment with applicable accounting standards

  • Research and implement accounting guidance while developing technical accounting policies and monitoring new standards

  • Support executive reporting including investor materials and audit committee deliverables while coordinating with auditors

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members while fostering a high performance and accountable culture

  • Manage reporting timelines and coordinate deliverables across internal stakeholders, auditors, and external partners

  • Partner cross functionally with finance, legal, and operational teams to support strategic initiatives and maintain strong internal controls

Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Experience Requirements: 10–12 years experience in relevant field (External reporting, technical accounting, or public company experience preferred)

  • Travel requirement: Some travel expected

Supervisor Responsibility

  • Direct Reports: Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

  • Indirect Reports: May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Deep knowledge of accounting standards and external reporting requirements

  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and disclosures

  • Strong analytical and technical accounting skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Strong communication and executive presentation skills

  • Experience leading and developing teams

  • Strong understanding of internal controls and audit requirements

  • Proficiency with financial systems and reporting tools

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Office / Sedentary Requirements: Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically, requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66% each day), ability to hear telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may require the ability to lift up to 10lbs.

Salary : $134,000 - $174,200
