Advantage Sales & Supply Co., LLC, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Department Manager to lead our team, oversee daily operations, and drive business growth.

Position Overview

The Department Manager will oversee front-line employees to ensure efficiency and quality in production operations within their department.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Duties

Productivity/On-Time Delivery

  • Collects, evaluates, analyzes, and assesses production data to meet scheduled ship dates and reduce lead times.

Staffing/Training

  • Frequently collaborates with other managers to coordinate activities and personnel needs in and among departments.
  • Maintains a personnel structure and staffing level to meet customer demand in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Interviews and recommends applicants for hire as team members.
  • Plans and coordinates work, trains, motivates, monitors, and evaluates performance of department employees, counsels, records, and disciplines as necessary.

Quality/Inventory Accuracy

  • Ensures that raw materials and finished products are regularly inspected and evaluated for quality and defects.
  • Identifies and corrects problems and inefficiencies in process, materials, equipment, or training/skills.
  • Ensures that scheduled departmental cycle counts are completed as requested and recommends solutions to improve inventory accuracy.

Safety/Compliance

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, industry standard, and best practices including those related to safety and health.
  • Develops and implements procedures and strategies to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Identifies potential unsafe situations/acts within the department and recommends solutions to minimize the risk of injury and incidents.

Cost Reduction

  • Reviews departmental costs to identify cost reduction projects and implements those projects as approved.

  • Thorough understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other effective manufacturing and distribution techniques.
  • Proficient with Sage100, Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Hires and trains front-line employees.
  • Organizes, directs, and oversees the schedules and work for employees.
  • Provides constructive and timely feedback and annual performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designation operations and production areas

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally working in a Production Related field.

Working Conditions, Hours, Travel

  • This job operates in a warehouse and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets. Some of the work will require exposure to loud noises in the warehouse facility.
  • This is a full-time position. The hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent
  • bending and stooping.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time and 75 pounds max with assistance.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect products/tags/labels.
