What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Residential HVAC Installer position at Advantage HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical?
Overview
Advantage HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical is a growing, locally owned company serving homeowners across the Emerald Coast, and we're looking for an experienced Residential HVAC Installer to join our team. You'll handle complete system change-outs and new installs, from pulling the old equipment to the final startup, and you'll take pride in clean, code-compliant work that passes inspection the first time. We care about doing the job right, treating customers' homes with respect, and backing our people with steady work, good equipment, and room to grow into a lead role. If you're a skilled installer who wants to be part of a team where your work really matters, we'd love to hear from you.
Pay will ultimately be based on experience level.
Duties
- Install and replace residential HVAC systems, including split systems, heat pumps, gas furnaces, air handlers, package units, and ductless mini-splits, following manufacturer specs and local code.
- Remove and properly dispose of old equipment, and recover refrigerant according to EPA rules.
- Set equipment pads, condensers, and air handlers, and install or modify line sets, condensate drains, float switches, and secondary pans.
- Braze, pressure test, evacuate, and charge systems, then complete a full startup and performance checkout.
- Fabricate, install, and seal ductwork, plenums, and transitions to get proper airflow.
- Wire thermostats, low-voltage controls, and disconnects, and make equipment connections.
- Read equipment specs, wiring diagrams, and job plans to make sure every install is done right the first time.
- Make sure each job is ready to pass permit inspection, and handle any corrections that come up.
- Keep job sites clean and protect the customer's home, including floors, walls, and attics.
- Walk homeowners through their new system and thermostat when the job is finished.
- Document every job with photos, notes, and serial numbers in the company software.
- Keep the company van stocked, organized, and safe to drive, and transport equipment to job sites.
- Follow safety procedures at all times, including ladder, attic, electrical, and heat safety.
- Train and direct installer helpers as needed.
Experience
- 3 years of hands-on residential HVAC installation experience (change-outs and new construction).
- Able to install split systems, heat pumps, gas furnaces, air handlers, and package units from start to finish.
- Skilled at brazing, running and sizing line sets, pressure testing, pulling vacuum, and charging refrigerant to manufacturer specs.
- Experience fabricating, installing, and sealing ductwork, plenums, and transitions.
- Able to wire low-voltage controls and thermostats and make line-voltage connections to equipment, with basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Familiar with condensate drains, gas piping, venting, and flue requirements.
- Able to read equipment specs, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and to complete a full system startup and checkout.
- Knowledge of local mechanical codes and permit and inspection requirements.
- Experience using hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment such as gauges or digital manifolds, vacuum pumps, micron gauges, multimeters, and combustion analyzers.
- EPA 608 certification (Universal preferred) is required. NATE or other trade certifications are a plus.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Experience driving a work van is preferred.
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work in attics, crawlspaces, and outdoors in Florida heat.
