SUMMARY
Advantage Environmental Consultants, LLC (AEC) is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our team. This Entry to Associate Level position requires 0-3 years of experience in environmental science, industrial hygiene, or related fields. This position operates primarily out of our Jessup, Maryland Office; however, travel within Maryland and to Washington D.C. and Virginia will be required on a daily basis. The position ranges from 50% to 90% fieldwork. . This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the environmental industry!
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of this position include the following:
· Perform hazardous building materials surveys for asbestos containing materials, lead-containing materials, radon, mold, indoor air quality, PCB’s, universal wastes, etc
· Conducting Environmental Audits at local and regional facilities in the Mid-Atlantic
· Assessing condition of asbestos-containing materials, lead based paint, and mold
· Utilize field screening equipment to analyze moisture and lead contents of building materials
· Provide third party oversight to abatement projects (asbestos, lead, mold, etc), including detailed documentation of work progress and field activities
· Collecting and analyzing air samples during abatement projects
· Reviewing contractor field submittals and licenses
· Interacting and communicating daily with contractors, technicians and project managers
· Writing clear field reports of site activities each day
· Assisting with report production
· Conducting environmental audits of various office and warehouses spaces, documenting compliance with local environmental regulations.
· It will be expected that as a technician at AEC you will be cross trained with other service lines including other environmental services, materials testing, and construction monitoring/testing.
QUALIFICATIONS
A qualified candidate must exhibit the following:
· An Associates Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology or a related discipline is required, a Bachelors Degree is preferred
· Ability to lift/carry 40– 100 lbs. multiple times a day
· Ability to wear a respirator
· Must be able to provide reliable transportation for daily commute to job sites – mileage will be reimbursed or a company vehicle will be provided
· May be required to travel out of town and with short notice, stay in hotel (reimbursed)
· May require occasional night or weekend work
· Basic knowledge of computer operations and standard software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe)
The following are also highly desirable:
· OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training
· EPA Asbestos Inspector
· Maryland-Certified Asbestos Inspector
· NIOSH 582 Training (Collecting and Analyzing Air Samples)
