We are seeking a skilled Civil/Structural Designer with experience in site development and industrial facility design to support engineering projects within our metal recycling operations. This role is responsible for producing detailed civil and structural drawings, grading plans, stormwater systems, and foundation designs using Autodesk Civil 3D and other design software. The ideal candidate has a strong background in industrial or heavy manufacturing environments and can work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and produce civil site layouts including grading plans, drainage plans, and utility layouts using Civil 3D.
- Design and draft stormwater management systems, including piping, culverts, detention/retention basins, and associated calculations under the direction of a civil engineer.
- Prepare structural design drawings and details for foundations, equipment pads, retaining walls, platforms, and other industrial structures.
- Generate accurate 3D models, sections, details, and construction drawings for civil and structural components.
- Assist with earthwork quantities, cut/fill analysis, and surface modeling.
- Coordinate with engineers to develop foundation plans, rebar layouts, structural framing plans, and design deliverables.
- Support field operations by responding to RFI’s, revising drawings, and updating as-built documentation.
- Ensure all drawings and designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and company specifications.
- Maintain organized drawing files, revision logs, and documentation in accordance with project procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support permitting, project scheduling, and construction activities.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Drafting/Design Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- 2 years of experience in civil, structural, or industrial design.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D required.
- Experience with stormwater design, grading, and site development.
- Working knowledge of structural foundations and industrial facility layouts.
- Familiarity with construction documents, plans, and permitting requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in industrial, recycling, metals, or heavy manufacturing environments is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other design tools.
- Knowledge of civil codes, stormwater regulations, and structural design standards.
- Ability to read and interpret geotechnical reports and survey data.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
