Branch General Manager (Freight Forwarding & Logistics)
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Branch General Manager to take full ownership of our Los Angeles / Compton branch. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, overseeing operations, leading the team, and managing full P&L performance.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic direction and execution. The ideal candidate operates with an owner mindset, capable of scaling the business while ensuring operational excellence across import/export freight forwarding and complex cargo solutions.
This role works closely with Headquarters (New Jersey) to ensure alignment on strategy, financial performance, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Growth
- Own branch revenue growth, including new business acquisition and account expansion
- Develop and execute sales strategies across air/ocean freight, domestic transport, and project cargo
- Lead customer engagements end-to-end (prospecting → solution → pricing → closing)
- Ensure pricing aligns with operational feasibility and margin targets
P&L Ownership & Financial Management
- Own full branch P&L, including revenue, margin, and cost control
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and monthly performance reviews
- Monitor key KPIs (revenue, margin %, cost per shipment, productivity)
- Report regularly to HQ (NJ) on performance and key initiatives
Freight Forwarding Operations (Import & Export)
- Oversee all international freight operations (air & ocean, import/export)
- Ensure compliance with customs, documentation, and trade regulations
- Manage shipment lifecycle from booking through delivery
- Resolve complex operational issues and maintain service quality
Warehousing Coordination (Non-Operational)
- Maintain strong understanding of warehouse operations and constraints
- Coordinate closely with warehouse teams to ensure smooth inbound/outbound flow
- Incorporate warehouse considerations into pricing, planning, and customer solutions
- Support integrated service offerings without direct warehouse ownership
Oversized & Project Cargo
- Oversee execution of oversized (OOG) and project cargo shipments
- Coordinate routing, equipment, permits, and specialized handling
- Manage risk and ensure compliant, efficient execution
- Support accurate pricing based on complexity and cost drivers
Team Leadership & Execution
- Lead and develop teams across sales, operations, and customer service
- Establish clear KPIs, accountability, and performance expectations
- Drive a culture of ownership, urgency, and continuous improvement
Customer & Partner Management
- Serve as escalation point for key accounts
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and partners
- Negotiate rates and ensure service and cost alignment
Systems & Process Optimization
- Ensure effective use of systems including OPUS, CargoWise, or equivalent
- Maintain data accuracy across operations and reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements in coordination with HQ
Compliance & Risk Management
- Oversee contracts, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Identify and mitigate operational and financial risks
- Maintain documentation and audit readiness
Qualifications
- 10–15 years of freight forwarding / logistics experience
- 5 years in senior leadership or GM-level role
- Strong experience in import/export (air & ocean), end-to-end freight operations, and oversized/project cargo
- Working understanding of warehousing operations (non-operational role)
- Proven P&L ownership and business growth track record
- Bilingual in Korean and English (Required)
- Experience with systems such as OPUS, CargoWise, SAP, or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree required (MBA preferred)

Work Conditions
- Salary: $85,000–$105,000 (based on experience)
- Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site
- Location: Compton, CA
- Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
