Advanced Traffic Control is a leading traffic control, pavement marking and signing contractor in the state of Iowa. We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Truck Driver / General Laborer to join our team, supporting job sites with equipment transport, setup, and maintenance of traffic control devices.
Position Summary
This dual-role position combines truck driving responsibilities with hands-on general labor duties. The ideal candidate will safely transport materials and equipment to and from job sites, and assist in the setup, maintenance, and breakdown of traffic control.
Key Responsibilities
*Driving Duties
- Safely operate company trucks (semi, pickup, flatbed, and/or box trucks) to transport equipment, materials, and crew to job sites
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT regulations
- Load and secure traffic control equipment (TBR, cones, barricades, signs, arrow boards, paint, message boards) for transport
- Maintain accurate driving logs and vehicle maintenance records
- Follow all traffic laws and company safety policies while operating vehicles
General Labor Duties
- Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices according to approved traffic control plans (TCPs)
- Install and remove signs, cones, drums, barricades, and delineators
-Assist in Pavement Marking Operations
- Assist with loading/unloading equipment and materials at job sites and yard
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Maintain a clean and organized yard/warehouse area
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions, often near live traffic
- Follow all site-specific safety protocols and PPE requirements
Qualifications
Required
- Valid CDL with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening
- Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and work on your feet for extended periods
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Flexibility to work early mornings, nights, weekends
- Strong attention to safety and ability to follow detailed instructions
Preferred
- Experience in traffic control, construction, or a related field
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment upkeep
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for long periods
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in confined roadside spaces and near moving traffic
- Exposure to outdoor elements (heat, cold, rain)
