What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electromechanical Assembler & Service Technician position at Advanced Tooling Specialists, Inc.?
As an Electromechanical Assembly and Service Technician at ATS you will assemble machines to support our assembly projects. You will also work in the field to install, startup and service machines and systems.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic assembly work on projects (custom machines & systems)
- Assemble machinery including automation, systems & tooling
- Study wiring diagrams and manuals to determine correct installation & quality
- Routing and bundling of wire and cables neatly to meet wiring standards
- Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, I/O Modules, VFDs, Interfaces & Instrumentation
- Troubleshoot panels as needed to eliminate wiring errors and component malfunctions
- Work with Controls & programming vendors to provide documentation and instructions on equipment operations
- Work with Controls & programming vendors to troubleshoot equipment in the field or during equipment builds
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, all organizational team members and external customer associates
- Maintain red line drawing mark-ups of changes required during fabrication
- Verify completed work meets the project specs and quality standards
Your Experience Includes:
- Technical degree/certificate or equivalent years of experience
- 3 years working as a machine builder and/or assembler in an Engineer to Order design and build environment, and in the field installing, starting up & servicing machinery and systems with increasing degree of responsibility
- Custom Machinery and Automation Experience
- Controls Software - Ability to connect and troubleshoot controls hardware and logic via software
- Robotics programming experience a major plus
- Electrical and controls engineering a plus
- Controls Hardware - General understanding of electrical control devices (e.g., sensors, solenoid valves, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, etc.)
- Ability to understand and work from schematics
- Field wiring, panel building
- Electromechanical, power transmission, hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems
- Strong Microsoft Office/software skills
- Install, start up, test and service machinery and systems at customer locations (primarily USA, some international, mainly North America)
- Track and document the progression of work, produce timely and detailed service reports
