Role Description This full-time, on-site Machinist role is based at Advanced Tool & Machine, LLC in Morristown, TN. The Machinist will set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to produce precision parts according to drawings, specifications, and work instructions. Daily responsibilities include reading blueprints, selecting appropriate tools and materials, loading programs or setting manual controls, performing measurements with precision instruments, and adjusting machine settings to maintain quality and efficiency. The role also involves routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting basic issues, collaborating with the production team to meet schedules, and documenting work in accordance with company procedures and safety standards. The Machinist is expected to maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety and quality guidelines.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes) in a production or job-shop environment.
- Proficiency using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Solid understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, materials, feeds and speeds, and basic shop math, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Commitment to safety and quality, including following standard operating procedures and identifying nonconforming parts or conditions.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic machining issues, make adjustments, and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other machinists.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a machining apprenticeship, technical program, or equivalent on-the-job experience is preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift materials as needed within reasonable limits, and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in tool, die, mold building, or metal fabrication is a plus.
