Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our pediatric therapy clinic. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of an occupational therapist (OTR) to provide high-quality, play-based interventions that support children's development and functional independence. This role requires strong clinical skills, creativity, and a passion for working with children and families.
Duties
Assist children with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, feeding, play, and school-related tasks to promote independence.
Collaborate with the supervising OTR to carry out individualized treatment plans based on each child's developmental needs and goals.
Support interventions targeting fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and visual-motor integration.
Provide education and coaching to parents/caregivers to encourage carryover of therapy strategies and home exercise programs (HEPs).
Document patient progress and treatment outcomes accurately and in compliance with pediatric therapy standards.
Monitor and report patient responses to treatment, adapting activities as needed under the guidance of the OTR.
Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration with speech therapists, physical therapists, teachers, and families to ensure consistent care across settings.
Create a supportive, engaging, and motivating therapy environment tailored to each child's interests and developmental level.
Requirements
Current Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is required.
Pediatric experience (clinic, school, or early intervention) preferred.
Strong knowledge of child development, anatomy, and physiology as related to occupational therapy practices.
Familiarity with sensory integration, autism spectrum disorders, and developmental delay interventions.
Excellent communication skills for collaboration with children, families, and healthcare team members.
Compassionate, patient, and adaptable in working with diverse pediatric populations.
Strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate documentation and supporting the therapy team.
