Job Description:
This position is recognized as a strategic buyer responsible for procurement of indirect materials and services for certain commodities in support of all business sectors in the Americas.
This position will collaborate with multiple site facility leaders and work within the global procedures for Strategic Purchasing.
From Intake Notes:
Bachelors in Supply Chain Management or Procurement or Manufacturing-related field preferred
(5-10 years’ experience in procurement otherwise)
KEY Hard Requirements:
- Procurement experience in indirect realm (procuring services, not just commodity buying); working with procurement of services, experience with contract management
- At least 5 years of experience if bachelor’s – the more the better
- SAP experience, advanced Excel experience
- Ability to travel (may need to go to supplier sites) – 10-15% travel
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Materials Management, Finance or Packaging Engineering, and 5 years of procurement, materials management, supplier cost analysis, OR supply chain management experience; or 10 years of experience in procurement, materials management, supplier cost analysis, or supply chain management
- Minimum 5 years of experience handling confidential, sensitive matters with discretion
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Excellent working knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures
Strong financial/cost analysis skills and problem-solving ability when issues are complex
- Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills, and the ability to understand the needs of the internal customer
- Strong ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documents
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently with little direction
- Ability to learn commodity processes at supplier locations
- Ability to travel on a limited basis
- Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
Preferred Skills: Experience with construction sourcing, machines and heavy-duty manufacturing equipment Project management experience
- Specific knowledge of construction, site professional services, and facilities management procurement processes
- Experience developing and executing contracts and service level agreements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Process purchasing award summaries and purchasing documents for suppliers directly related to maintenance, repair and operational goods and services within global compliance policies
Develop sourcing lists and monitor supplier performance
Aggressively resolve all pricing, invoicing, and contract related issues with the suppliers
Negotiate pricing, terms and annual contracts with suppliers, especially for goods and services utilized at operational facilities in Mankato, MN.
Analyze supplier cost/pricing information and benchmark the competition
Manage purchase requisition queue, vendor invoice management queue
- Maintain open communication between internal departments, management, and suppliers
- Actively identify, drive, and support cost savings initiatives
- Support the implementation of a standardized process approach utilizing common forms, measurements, and structure
- Maintain good housekeeping practices
- Perform special projects as required
