Studio Operations Specialist

Job Summary

As a Studio Operations Specialist (Flex) with Advanced Systems Group, you’ll play an essential role in making sure our client’s studio operations in Washington, DC run smoothly every day. You’ll be the on-site expert, supporting a healthy and production-ready studio environment, providing first-response troubleshooting, and partnering with technical teams and stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

• Open, prep, and close studio sessions—with a focus on readiness and seamless transitions.
• Be the first point of support for faculty, staff, students, and guests in the studio.
• Assist with day-of production needs, including routing, monitoring, and playback checks.
• Work closely with client stakeholders to manage bookings, facility access, and session expectations.
• Maintain the health of the studio’s network and ensure low-latency production traffic.
• Help with firewall, gateway, and network checks as defined in the scope.
• Support remote monitoring and troubleshooting workflows (Parsec, VPN, remote tools) as per security policy.
• Manage studio storage for recording and file staging.
• Oversee asset delivery, including sending files through NextCloud and handling notifications.
• Monitor storage capacity, help manage retention, and handle delivery recovery if needed.
• Escalate and coordinate fixes for any storage or integrity issues.
• Handle patching, maintenance, and system updates during assigned windows.
• Maintain configuration baselines and backup key setups to ensure a quick rebuild if ever needed.
• Track software licenses and maintenance/update schedules with vendors.
• Coordinate repair or replacement of equipment through established RMA workflows.
• Keep organized records, network diagrams, documentation, credentials, and support playbooks up-to-date.
• Frequently collaborate with the LA studio team to maintain standards, documentation, training, and support alignment.
  
  

Required Education and Experience:

• Experience supporting live production environments, broadcast, studio AV, or media systems operations.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across signal flow, control systems, and user workflow issues.
• Comfort with IP-based media concepts, multicast basics, and managed switching fundamentals.
• Experience supporting macOS, Windows, and Linux endpoints, plus basic server and storage administration.
• Ability to work calmly and professionally with high-visibility clients under last-minute schedule pressure.
• Strong documentation habits including checklists, change logs, and clear escalation notes.
  
  

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Experience with NDI, Dante, and networked audio/video troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with firewall and remote access concepts including VPN and controlled remote support workflows.
• Familiarity with authentication concepts such as AD and SSO.
• Experience with hypervisors and virtualized workloads, including Proxmox exposure.
• Basic scripting and automation capability for repeatable operational tasks.
  
  

Key Skills:

• Technical proficiency across the studio ecosystem, including enterprise switching (Cisco, Arista), production compute (Lenovo server infrastructure), Apple endpoints, Extron infrastructure, Shure audio, NDI/Dante-adjacent devices (Birddog, Glensound), and ETC/ARRI lighting elements.
• Strong signal flow and systems troubleshooting capability across audio, video, control, and IP network layers.
• Ability to maintain operational readiness independently, managing studio health, documentation, and escalation without on-site supervision.
• Clear and professional communicator able to support a range of users from students and faculty to senior stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline; able to maintain accurate as-built records, support playbooks, and configuration baselines.
• Organized and proactive in managing maintenance windows, software updates, spares, and RMA workflows.
• Collaborative cross-functional partner able to coordinate effectively with remote ASG engineering teams, client IT, and network security partners.

• Role is flex/variable hours
• On-site at client’s studio facility in Washington, DC
• Schedule is as-needed, aligned to studio bookings
• Occasional early, late, or event-based support may be required
