Roofing Production Mechanic I

POSITION SUMMARY
The Roofing Mechanic assists with the installation of commercial roofing materials such as TPO, EPDM and Modified.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

• Perform roofing duties associated with hot applied systems
• Perform roofing duties associated with torch applied systems
• Perform roofing duties associated with cold process systems
• Perform roofing duties associated with the layout pattern of the insulation
• Perform roofing duties associated with installing felt paper
• Perform roofing duties associated with operating roofing equipment
• Layout a roof to incorporate needed slope and drainage
• Lays out insulation for maximum use of material and best performance
• Counts materials on site and keeps usage information to insure proper coverages
• Communicates material usage to foreman along with remaining inventories
• Installs membranes per industry and manufacturer specifications
• Supervises apprentices and coaches each to become more proficient
• Consults with foreman on project specific specifications
• Probes and initials detail work
• Completes all detail and finish work
• Fields install basic sheet metal flashings and trims

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education:

• High school or GED preferred, not required

Experience:

• At least 3 years roofing experience
• Commercial roofing experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Good mathematical and reading skills
• Ability to maintain good attendance
• Ability to practice Company safety protocols
• Basic communications skills
• Knowledge of basic roofing tools
• Must be able to lift 100 LBS or more.
• Ability to take direct commands
• Desire to learn the commercial roofing trade
• Ability to withstand demands of extreme weather conditions and high temperatures
• Ability to be able to oftentimes climb ladder, lift more than 50 lbs.
• Ability to bend over most of the day and work on knees excessively throughout the day
• Clear driver license
• Ability to pass initial and random drug testing
• Ability to pass government background check
