Job Overview:
The O&M Service Technician will play a critical role in the growth of our Service Division. The individual selected for this role will be involved working in the Service Organization completing technical service tickets while also performing annual O&M activities. This position is a growth add to the ARS Service Team and we intend to fill the position with the "right" person, not just "any" service tech.
Work Experience
Three or more years technical experience with ability for ongoing growth and education.
The Solar O&M Technician is responsible for maximizing system uptime and performance. Duties include conducting regular inspections, cleaning, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial solar installations. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, detailed reporting, client communication, and proficiency in remote monitoring and emergency response.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on industrial residential & commercial solar systems for ARS portfolio clients
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using schematics, calibration tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic software such as Calypso.
- Repair or replace components related to high voltage and low voltage systems, including sensors, motors, drives, and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
- Read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, AutoCAD drawings, and control system documentation to facilitate accurate repairs.
- Calibrate instruments and sensors to ensure precise operation within manufacturing processes.
- Conduct field service activities at customer sites or plant locations, providing technical support for system startups or upgrades.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on system modifications or upgrades involving vision inspection systems, CNC machinery, distributed control systems (DCS), or automation platforms like .
- Maintain detailed service records, logs of maintenance activities, incident reports, and parts used for compliance and continuous improvement.
Requirements

Regularly inspect solar panels, inverters, mounting systems, and other components to identify any issues or abnormalities. Utilize monitoring systems to track system performance and diagnose problems.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning solar panels, checking connections, lubricating moving parts, and tightening bolts to prevent system downtime and ensure optimal performance.
Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions or performance issues. Replace faulty components, such as inverters or damaged wiring, and perform repairs to restore system functionality.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on commercial solar installations. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures to prevent accidents or injuries.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and system performance data. Generate reports detailing maintenance schedules, issues encountered, and actions taken to address them.
Communicate with clients or facility managers regarding maintenance schedules, system performance, and any necessary repairs or upgrades. Provide recommendations for optimizing system efficiency and performance.
Respond promptly to system alarms or unexpected failures to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted power generation. Implement contingency plans and coordinate with appropriate personnel to resolve emergencies efficiently.
Stay updated on industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in solar energy O&M. Participate in training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge of solar system maintenance.
Work collaboratively with other technicians, engineers, and contractors to coordinate maintenance activities, share knowledge, and address complex issues effectively.
Conduct quality assurance checks to verify that installations meet design specifications and performance expectations. Identify opportunities for system improvements and upgrades to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and guidelines related to solar energy installations. Dispose of hazardous materials properly and implement environmentally friendly practices where applicable.
Utilize remote monitoring software and control systems to monitor system performance, adjust settings, and diagnose issues remotely when possible, reducing the need for onsite visits.
- Excellent customer service skills when interacting with clients or internal teams during field service activities.
- Military experience or certifications related to industrial maintenance are considered advantageous.
Qualifications
· Must have a clean driving record.
· Must have a valid driver's license.
· Must thrive in a team environment.
· NABCEP certification preferred.
· Satcon, Xantrex, AE and other central/string inverter certifications preferred
· Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold).
· Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, and work on rooftops.

· Strong technology skills
· Exercises a high level of professionalism and a positive demeanor.
· Capable of safely lifting 70 lbs.
Pay: $ $29.54 per hour
