Operations Engineer

Middlesex, NJ (On-Site)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Mechanical Engineer – Operations to bridge the gap between engineering and manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical problem-solving and hands-on coordination across projects, vendors, and production teams.

You will play a critical role in ensuring materials are sourced efficiently, projects stay on schedule, and operations run smoothly from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Project Coordination

• Support production scheduling and coordinate shop activities with engineering and production teams
• Track project progress and manage workflows using project management tools (e.g., Asana)
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment across engineering, operations, and leadership

Procurement & Vendor Management

• Source materials, components, and services with a focus on cost-efficiency and quality
• Research market trends, pricing, and alternative sourcing solutions
• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships; negotiate pricing and terms
• Coordinate purchasing activities to ensure timely delivery of materials

Analysis & Continuous Improvement

• Analyze costs, processes, and workflows to identify efficiency improvements
• Support initiatives that drive cost savings and operational excellence
• Maintain technical knowledge of materials and equipment used in production

Administrative & Technical Support

• Maintain accurate records, contracts, and procurement documentation
• Utilize Microsoft Excel and Word for reporting, tracking, and analysis
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and customers

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 1–5 years of relevant experience in operations, manufacturing, or engineering
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Preferred

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Experience in the capital equipment or manufacturing industry
• Familiarity with ERP systems
• Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana)
• Exposure to procurement or supply chain functions

Important Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)

• This is a full-time, on-site position (Monday–Friday)

Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
