Hours: Part-Time (20–30 hours per week)

Advanced Pet Care Clinic is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate, fun, and hardworking team! Every day is different—from helping save lives in surgery to celebrating healthy puppy visits—and we're looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on, working as part of a team, and providing exceptional care to both pets and their people.

Please note: We require at least 2 years of veterinary clinic experience, including confident animal handling and restraint. This position is not suitable for candidates without previous veterinary experience.

What You'll Do

As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play a vital role in patient care and client communication by:

• Assisting veterinarians and technicians during appointments and treatments
• Safely handling and restraining dogs and cats
• Obtaining accurate patient histories
• Entering medical records into our computerized system
• Providing nursing care, including medicating, feeding, walking, and monitoring hospitalized patients
• Preparing patients for surgery and assisting with surgical procedures
• Monitoring and caring for patients during recovery
• Performing laboratory testing (fecal, urine, and in-house diagnostics)
• Taking digital radiographs
• Preparing vaccines and filling prescriptions
• Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments, treatment areas, and kennels
• Maintaining hospital cleanliness and equipment
• Educating clients on medications, diseases, preventive care, and treatment plans
• Answering phones and assisting clients with questions
• Processing invoices and assisting with patient discharge

• Has 2 years of veterinary clinic experience
• Is confident with animal restraint and handling
• Works well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
• Communicates professionally and compassionately with clients and coworkers
• Is dependable, organized, and eager to learn
• Enjoys teamwork and isn't afraid to jump in wherever needed
• Loves both people and pets

Qualifications

• Veterinary Assistant Degree
• Minimum of 2 years of veterinary experience required
• Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to Cedar Falls, IA before starting
