Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while ensuring the smooth operation of the dental clinic. This position involves assisting dentists during procedures, managing patient records, and maintaining a clean and organized environment in compliance with infection control protocols.
Duties
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Conduct patient assessments including taking vital signs and documenting medical history.
- Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dental clinic, ensuring all areas meet infection control standards.
- Utilize 3D scanners for imaging as required for specific procedures.
- Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments and manage patient flow efficiently.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dental assisting role is preferred, particularly in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry settings.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy is essential.
- Familiarity with medical documentation processes, medical coding, and maintaining accurate medical records is a plus.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques is required.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Epic or Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform medical imaging tasks effectively using X-ray equipment.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
