Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while ensuring the smooth operation of the dental clinic. This position involves assisting dentists during procedures, managing patient records, and maintaining a clean and organized environment in compliance with infection control protocols.

Duties

  • Assist dentists during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following aseptic techniques.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Conduct patient assessments including taking vital signs and documenting medical history.
  • Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dental clinic, ensuring all areas meet infection control standards.
  • Utilize 3D scanners for imaging as required for specific procedures.
  • Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments and manage patient flow efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a dental assisting role is preferred, particularly in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry settings.
  • Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy is essential.
  • Familiarity with medical documentation processes, medical coding, and maintaining accurate medical records is a plus.
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques is required.
  • Experience with EMR systems such as Epic or Dentrix is highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform medical imaging tasks effectively using X-ray equipment.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
