Job Summary:
The Lead Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for supervising and supporting medical assistants in clinical operations while also providing high-quality patient care. This role combines clinical duties with leadership responsibilities, ensuring efficient workflow, excellent patient service, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Requirements:Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Perform routine clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, administering medications (under supervision), and assisting with procedures.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic lab tests.
- Ensure accurate documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Provide patient education and instructions as directed by providers.
- Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms and clinical areas.
Leadership & Supervisory Duties:
- Act as the primary point of contact for the medical assistant team.
- Provide training, mentoring, and ongoing support to new and existing staff.
- Provides educational support and updates via tip sheets and other visual materials for learning
- Oversee daily workflow, assignments, and staffing to ensure clinical efficiency.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to clinical protocols, infection control procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to resolve issues and improve operations.
Administrative Duties:
- Assist with supply ordering and inventory management
- Support compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and other applicable healthcare regulations.
- Attend and lead team meetings and training sessions.
- Support all employee training and education with Clinical Trainer
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through AAMA, NCCT, NHA, or AMT required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years as a medical assistant, with at least 1 year in a leadership or senior role preferred. OBGYN experience highly preferred.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Proficient in EMR systems (e.g., NextGen, Epic, Athenahealth, etc.).
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
