Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, administering medications, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals
- Support patients with mobility using proper manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning, laundry, and sanitation tasks in accordance with health standards
- Document care plans, patient observations, and communication notes accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents or clients, fostering a warm and respectful atmosphere
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient observation, monitor vital signs, and assist with medication administration
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and hospice care practices
- Experience working with individuals with autism or neurodevelopmental disabilities is advantageous
- Familiarity with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and patient personal care assistance techniques
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications in HIPAA compliance or specialized caregiving are a plus
- Proven ability to handle heavy lifting safely and assist with ADLs while maintaining patient dignity and comfort
