Position Summary: The Production Manager Molding leads all molding operations across multiple shifts, ensuring the department consistently meets safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. This position manages Production Supervisors and support staff, developing leadership capability at all levels while driving process discipline, compliance, and efficiency. The Production Manager oversees workforce planning, hiring, and performance management, ensuring that the molding department operates in alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA, and cGMP standards.
Schedule: While the standard schedule is daytime office hours, this position requires flexibility to meet the needs of a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise Oversee all molding production activities across shifts to achieve departmental safety, quality, and throughput targets.
- Lead and develop Production Supervisors and molding staff to ensure strong leadership presence and consistent execution.
- Plan and allocate resources to balance workload, maximize uptime, and meet customer delivery schedules.
- Review key performance indicators (OEE, scrap, labor efficiency, downtime) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in employment-related decisions, including hiring, promotions, corrective actions, and terminations in collaboration with HR.
- Conduct supervisor performance evaluations and partner with leadership to create growth and succession plans for molding personnel.
- Oversee and approve timecards, headcount tracking, and scheduling accuracy across shifts.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to improve process reliability, product quality, and equipment utilization.
- Lead or support nonconformance investigations, corrective actions, and internal/external audits.
- Ensure consistency in documentation, work instructions, and training across all shifts.
- Manage departmental budgets, labor forecasting, and resource planning.
- Champion Lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives to optimize efficiency and workplace organization.
- Communicate operational performance, staffing needs, and improvement plans to senior leadership.
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning throughout the department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of injection molding processes, equipment, and production management.
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities with proven ability to mentor supervisors and staff.
- Thorough understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA, and cGMP requirements.
- Data-driven approach to managing performance and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Skilled in ERP and production reporting systems.
- Confident decision-maker with sound judgment and professionalism.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
- 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in injection molding operations.
- Experience in medical device or other regulated manufacturing required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and stand throughout manufacturing areas for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Must wear PPE and adhere to cleanroom requirements when applicable.
Salary : $95,000 - $135,000
