THE ROLE:

We are seeking a technical leader with a strong passion for power architecture to join the SoC Architecture team within AMD's Computing and Graphics group. In this role, power architects shape the direction of nextgeneration SoCs-from early concept and definition through design execution and postsilicon validation. You will collaborate closely with a wide range of teams, including SoC architecture, IP design, integration and physical design, platform architecture, software, firmware, packaging, and silicon validation. THE PERSON:

You need to have excellent problem solving, communication and presentation skills, demonstrated through technical publications, presentations, trainings, executive briefings, etc. Highly adept at collaboration among top-thinkers and engineers alike, ready to mentor and guide, and help to elevate the knowledge and skills of the team around you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Author new Power Algorithms and Software Features. Utilize latest ML techniques to optimize CPU, GPU power and performance
  • Create new software interfaces to optimize hardware behavior
  • Develop new firmware by prototyping complex power control algorithms across SoC roadmap
  • Profile emerging benchmarks on LLM or NN workloads running on Client products to optimize power in active states by tuning algorithms
  • Implement and optimize control software and features to ensure power objectives and goals are met
  • Create innovative power reduction initiatives and methodologies and drive cross-organization alignment with product teams for implementation towards power convergence.
  • Work closely with world-wide design teams on the implementation, verification, and review of power management solutions.
  • Optimize PC use cases in terms of absolute power and also in relative performance per watt.
  • Must be hands on with development boards and flashing new firmware to checkout power and performance.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in profiling software workloads on CPU and GPU
  • Experience in defining new software interfaces to optimize hardware performance.
  • Experience in profiling power and performance benchmarks
  • Prior algorithm development in C or Python.
  • Prior Matlab Experience is preferred
  • Experience in system and SoC control firmware/software.
  • Experience in ACPI and UEFI
  • Demonstrated expertise in system and SOC power optimization techniques
  • Experience with RTOS and bare-metal firmware.
  • Experience with Software tracing, firmware debug and activity profiling.
  • Clear methodical problem solver.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a world-wide team.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal skills

Academic Credentials

  • PhD or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • Several years of relevant experience
