THE ROLE:
We're looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Opensource AI Applications Engineer to join the AMD team. If you're passionate about AI, opensource development, and love helping the community, this is the role for you! 

THE PERSON:

In this position, you'll be engaging with open-source developers, contributors, and maintainers of key AI and ML projects, helping them optimize and innovate on AMD GPUs. You’ll be directly involved in making sure developers have everything they need to leverage the power of AMD for their AI workloads. We're looking for someone who’s not only a great problem-solver but also someone who thrives in a community-driven environment and can communicate ideas clearly and effectively. 

You'll get to roll up your sleeves, write code, contribute to projects, and help lead the charge in making AMD GPUs a go-to choice for AI and machine learning enthusiasts around the world. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Engage with the open-source developer community, offering support and advice on using AMD GPUs for AI/ML projects. 

• Contribute to open-source AI/ML frameworks and tools, making sure they run smoothly on AMD hardware. 

• Create cool content like blog posts, tutorials, and videos to show off AMD GPUs in the AI space and help others get the most out of them. 

• Build strong connections with other developers and open-source maintainers, fostering a thriving community around AMD’s GPU technology. 

• Help troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues for developers facing challenges with AMD GPUs. 

• Represent AMD at conferences, meetups, and online events to build relationships and grow the community. 

• Stay on top of the latest in AI/ML and open-source tech to bring fresh ideas and opportunities to the table. 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Several years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on open-source contributions, particularly in AI/ML projects. 

• Hands-on experience with programming languages like Python, C , or CUDA, and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks like PyTorch and JAX. 

• Experience working with AI/ML workloads, particularly optimizing them for hardware like AMD GPUs (or similar). 

• A solid track record of contributing to open-source projects – you love the open-source community, and it shows in your work. 

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly. 

• Enthusiasm for community-building, creating content, and helping others grow. 

• Great communication skills – you know how to break down tough tech into easy-to-understand concepts. 
• Experience with AMD GPUs and software tools for AI/ML development a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and containers in AI/ML workflows a plus.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred
