Job Role and Responsibility: Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Software System Design Eng. to Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of computer science, electronic engineering, and mathematical analysis. Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software for enhancements and new semiconductor products. Develop software and tools in support of electronic design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, and/or databases. Coordinate debug of issues and drive them to closure. Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD systems and products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires three (3) years of experience in the following:

• C, C , or Python scripting;
• Designing and developing software for embedded devices;
• Firmware and device driver development;
• Multithread software development;
• Debugging hardware utilizing probes, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes;
• Linux or Unix applications;
• Data Structures;
• Interface protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, and USB); and
• Unit testing, software validation, and test automation framework development.
