THE ROLE:
Own the two capabilities that most directly determine how fast and how well AIG's software organization ships: (1) the engineering infrastructure and developer productivity layer that AIG's software teams run on, and (2) the Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) function that puts AMD software into customers' and partners' hands and converts field learnings back into the roadmap.
THE PERSON:
Define and institutionalize the Software Infrastructure andFDE Engagementto maximize resource leverage and ensure consistent, high-velocity customer outcomes.Serve as theVoice of the Customerinternally: Translate field intelligence and customer challenges into concrete, prioritized engineering roadmaps, and ensure execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Software Infrastructure & Developer Productivity
Own developer productivity, engineering velocity, and the internal developer platform for AIG's software organization - the tooling, CI/CD, and workflows engineers use every day.
Manage developer workloads and productivity against GPU capacity, integrating CI/CD, test, and utilization for these engineering workflows directly into the engineering organization.
Operate on a clear division of responsibility with IT: IT provides and manages the standardized base infrastructure and the underlying SLAs; engineering owns the developer-facing workloads, CI/CD pipelines, and utilization/efficiency of that capacity - with the intent that these engineering-integrated workflows are increasingly managed by engineering over time.
Establish honest, non-punitive productivity and utilization metrics that drive real efficiency gains in how AIG consumes GPU and compute capacity.
- Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE)
Build and lead the FDE function for AIG's software organization - engineers deployed alongside key customers and partners to deploy, integrate, and optimize AMD software (ROCm and the broader AI stack) in real workloads.
Close the loop between the field and the core engineering roadmap: translate deployment friction, performance gaps, and customer requirements into prioritized engineering work.
Serve as a scaling mechanism for adoption - turning individual high-touch engagements into repeatable patterns, reference architectures, and tooling that reduce the cost of the next deployment.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Years of Technical Leadership:Demonstratedtrack recordleading high-impact technical teams within high-stakes environments (e.g., Cloud Infrastructure, AI Platform, or HPC).
- The "Hardware/Software" Hybrid:You understand the stack from the metal up.
- Commercial Acumen & Fluency:Deep understanding of commercial drivers (ARR, Churn, Margin) and the ability to articulate how technical solutions impact deal velocity and business outcomes.
- High-Stakes Crisis Management:Experience leading through "Sev0" customer incidents (e.g., massive training run failures),demonstratingthepoise and clarityrequiredto manage executive communication while guiding rapid root cause resolution.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- BS, MS or equivalent with direct experience
