Medical Billing Specialist — Role OverviewPrimary Duties
- Prepare and submit insurance claims (electronic or paper) to payers, such as Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations when necessary.
- Review medical documentation and assign appropriate diagnosis (ICD-10) and procedure (CPT/HCPCS) codes.
- Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, correcting errors and resubmitting as needed.
- Communicate with insurance companies, providers, and patients to resolve billing issues.
- Generate patient statements and assist with payment plans.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 per week
