Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is the premier provider of emergency and scheduled ambulance services in Central and Western Illinois, as well as parts of Iowa. AMT is a private, not-for-profit organization operated for community benefit.
Our Critical Care Paramedic team members are responsible for providing basic, advanced, and critical care support in caring for patients in emergency response situations, during interfacility transports, and during standby events. Paramedics at AMT work 12-hour shifts in the Peoria and 24-hour shifts in Pekin and Chillicothe area. Shift bid is done twice annually. PRN employees are expected to work at least two 12-hour shifts per month.
Job Duties:
- Examine and evaluate patients to determine necessary care
- Provide advanced life support as necessary
- Provide patients with emergency care by utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment
- Document patient information, condition, and treatment
- Maintain patient confidentiality and perform all care with respect for patient rights
- Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment in accordance with company vehicle check-off sheets and inventory requirements.
- Operate and drive an ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies and laws
- Attend all mandatory critical care skill check continuing education
- Maintain current certification(s) according to provisions set forth by the governing licensure
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
- Present and promote a positive company image

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Current Paramedic license in Illinois and National Registry EMT
- Critical Care certification of completion by accredited and approved university
- Current American Heart Association BLS CPR certification
- ACLS, ITLS/PHTLS, and PALS certification or ability to obtain
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 100 pounds (subject to physical exam)
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Knowledge of the professional pre-hospital theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care
- Demonstrated ability to implement clinical care in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
- Mathematics and chemical knowledge necessary to perform calculations as required
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
- Ability to exercise sound judgment while working in a stressful environment
