Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and administrative support within our facility. This position requires a strong understanding of medical procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Prepare charts with past H&P in addition to retrieving lab results, pathology reports, and operative reports
- Take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure and temperature
- Scan external records for the provider to review and give a brief summary of the appointment reason to the provider.
- Complete and present the medical record in collaboration with the supervising physician by scribing the physician dictated patient history, physical examination, family, social, and past medical history as well as documenting procedures, lab results, dictated radiographic impressions made by the supervising physician and any other information pertaining to the patient’s encounter
- Complete prior authorizations for medications and infusions
- Answer phone calls regarding medication inquiries and refill requests
- Return voicemails and relay messages pertaining to medical inquiries and medication requests/authorization requirements
- Clean and stock examination rooms
Requirements
-Certified Medical Assistant license
- Required minimum 2-years medical office experience working in a healthcare setting; preferably in an ambulatory surgery center or private practice
- Knowledge of medical terminology (preferably for gastroenterology)
- Proficiency in using phone systems and electronic health records systems (preferably AdvancedMD)
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Compassionate and empathetic towards patients and their families
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
